During this all day tour you'll explore some of the main attractions of Amsterdam (including of course the damsquare and red light district) as well as its famous canals. This tour is a great way to begin your post-apocalyptic zombie-escape planning. Get down with Dutch culture and learn the most useful phrases which you can use right away on some of the local fauna.

This is a bar where you can smoke, enjoy a waterpipe, and has a oriental vibe.
We eat upstrairs. you can either sit on the ground on pillows or on a regular chair.
The meal consist out of a few different pieces of meat, frenchfries and salad. on top of that you get 1 drink.

Red Light district tour € 10,- pp (20.30-22.30)
The Friday evening program is not an option when you are competing in the single handed tournament, since this tournament will take place at the same time. The evening program consists of a dinner in one of the restaurants located very close to the central station of Amsterdam. This restaurant as a oriental vibe, so you might end up eating on the floor sitting on a pillow smoking a waterpipe...
Diner consists out of meat, fries, vegatables and a drink. They make a special deal for us for only 15 euro (which is very cheap in Amsterdam)
After the dinner there is a possibility to join the Red Light District tour and learn all about Amsterdam nightlife.

Friday evening tournament

Friday evening tournament
Single handed steel Tournament! for those who come to the ILHG looking for competition, it starts on the Friday. After spending a relaxing day in Amsterdam the fighters will gear up to compete in our single handed steel tournament. The tournament is open for everyone. We will again like last your do a Messer tournament.
There might be a problem with the delivery of the messers so we advice you to bring your own Messer for the tournament. Hopefully we will have ours in time and otherwise we still have Messer from last year. (they were a bit too flexible..)
Since it is a steel tournament, we will use the same gear requirements as in the longsword competitions.

The tournament will start at 18.30 so make sure to be in the hall at 18.00 for gear check and the announcment of the pools.

Saturday, September 6

Saturday

Saturday
Saturday is our main Tournament day, with three different longsword competitions. Like last year we will have the Ladies Longsword, in which the women of HEMA fence for the title of the ILHG Ladies competition. The second tournament is the biggest one, the Open Longsword tournament. Fighters from all over the world will fence in this steel longsword competition. Thirdly, we will have the Rory van Noort Invitational Longsword Tournament. Fighters who have proven themselves in other competitions are invited to join this tournament, ensuring a high level of fighters and bouts. Do note that you need to be 16 years of age to join the tournaments.

For those who don't feel like competing, not to worry. Throughout the day we will offer workshops in our two remaining halls. The saturday really has something for everybody.

Saturday Evening Celebration

Saturday Evening Celebration
After the tournaments are over, we all will gather at the 'Monastery' at Archeon, which is a local historical medieval park. Here we will dine together and cheer for the victors and participants and maybe throw in a speech or two. We also have a few after-dinner evening entertainment ideas and activities planned, some of which are quite probably legal...

Sunday, September 7

Sunday

Sunday
On Sunday, we will have the ‘team up’ workshops, where two prominent instructors will have prepared a combined class and teach together. Duo workshops have a lot of advantages over single instructor workshops in the current development of HEMA events. A problem nowadays is lack of time for workshops if tournaments are held. These are, in our opinion, the advantages of duo workshops:
  • People get two top instructors for the price of one
  • We can host more instructors for that day
  • We can offer more workshops in a day
  • If we have more instructors to teach we have more professional judges
  • Instructors will have a blast, by working and teaching together
Most importantly, as the tournaments take up more and more time, we still want to be able to offer quality workshops for those interested.

During the Sunday we will also get to see the AMEK Kids class at their best. The new generation of the AMEK will fight with dussacks in our ILHG Kids Dussack Tournament. There will also be Demonstrations and Presentations for those interested in the wide world of HEMA.

Monday, September 8

Monday

Monday
This is a special extra day for those willing to spend more time training. This day is all about healthy competition, having a good time and playing together. For that is our idea of what a HEMA event should be; having fun and swordfighting.

Within the AMEK, we have invented tons of groovy Dussack games that you can play with 20 to 30 people or so. In short, two teams take each other on in a fighting game and you have to work together to destroy the other team and/or successfully accomplish your mission. The games will require speed, brain function, martial sword skills and team effort. If you want to accomplish your goal, that is. Lack one of these key elements and the other team will own you!

These games are really awesome, awfully tiring, and highly technical. They are also unbelievably fun and hopefully a lovely way to finish off the event. This will take place either at another location or outside in the open air, depending on the weather.

This does not happen at the event location but at the Sporthal 'De Cuyl' which is very close by.
We start early at 8.30 until 11.30 So at 12 o'clock the event is offical over. We then have still time to relax and enjoy the rest of the day!
